Poy Pee Mau

ITANAGAR, Dec 05: The Tai people of North East India including Arunachal Pradesh  is celebrating Poy Pee Mai festival at Namsai in Lohit district from December 13-16 next. Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, MPs Mukut Mithi and Takam Sanjoy and Tourism Minister Pema Khandu are scheduled to attend the inaugural function on December 14. Union DoNER Minister Pawan Singh Ghatowar, Union MoS (Minority Affairs) Ninong Ering, Assam’s Art & Cultural Affairs Minister Pranati Phukan and Agriculture Parliamentary Secretary Bolin Chetia (Assam) would be joining the celebration on Dec 15. The festival marks the beginning of Tai New Year. It  is being organized by Tai Khampti Development Society under the guidance of Finance, Planning & PWD Minister Chowna Mein.

 

Seminar on language education policy begins

ITANAGAR, Dec 05: A seminar cum workshop on ‘Language Education Policy in Arunachal Pradesh’ was inaugurated  by Education Commissioner Ganesh Koyu here today. The four days seminar cum workshop is being organized by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Itanagar in collaboration with Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) under Union  ministry of Human Resource Development, Mysore. The  seminar aims at empowering and effective introduction of mother tongue in the primary level schools in Arunachal Pradesh and also emphasized on the need of  reviving the dying tribal mother tongues.

Dr. Kedutso Kapfo, North Eastern Language Development (NELD) coordinator under CIIL gave a details on the aims and objective of the seminar cum workshop.

Education Commissioner Ganesh Koyu highlighted the importance of own language in education  process.

The Director of School Education Dr T Taloh also shared his views about the importance of the mother tongue in education.Among others, director of elementary education Bodong Yirang, SCERT principal attended the seminar.

Members from SCERT, DIET, RGU, DBYC and  language officer, and  community representatives were the participants in the seminar.

 

Tuki to inaugurate SRF, Kepangla festival

YINGKIONG, Dec 05: Chief Minister Nabum Tuki is all set to inaugurate the SRF at Yingkiong and Kepangla festival at Tuting on 8th and 9th December respectively. The Union Minister of State Minority Affairs Ninnong Ering, Finance Minister Chowna Mein, Education Minister Bosiram Siram, Industry Minister Tapang Taloh,  and Parliamentary secretary, education, J.K. AAPSA condoles death of school boy

ITANAGAR, Dec 5: The All Arunachal Private Schools’ Association (AAPSA)  condoles the accidental death of the school boy, Sanu Kumar, who was run over by a speeding APST bus in Pasighat recently. AAPSA requested all the member schools and private schools of Arunachal to observe two minutes silence for the departed soul of Lt Sanu Kumar during the morning assembly and pray for the deceased family.

 

Office shifting

ITANAGAR Dec 5: The office of Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner, Naharlagun is temporarily shifting tentatively on December 6 to the new building of Director, Geology and Mining, near Gyan Gang School, Chandranagar on account of construction of mini- secretariat at the present site at Naharlagun. There will not be any public dealing by various branches in DC Office including Jansuvidha, Judicial  and Land Management from 5th to 8th December on account of packing and shifting work etc. However, the branch officer including ADC, SDO, EAC, Cos etc would seat in their new allotted office from 6th December 2012 onwards for general public dealings. Training programme on PMEGP concludes

Seppa Dec 5: The 12 days long training programme on Prime Minister Employment Generation programme (PMEGP) 2012-13 held at DIC Seppa concluded yesterday.

Dustbins distributed

ITANAGAR, Dec 05:  The Dumporijo Constituency Assembly Youth Congress has distributed more than hundreds pieces of dustbin to business community of Dumporijo township in Upper Subansiri on Saturday in order to keep the town clean. Awareness cum health camp

ITANAGAR, Dec 5: The MM Charitable Trust  had conducted awareness cum health camp on HIV/AIDS during the occasion of the World Aids Day at in Daporijo on 1st December. Silver Jubliee celebrated

ITANAGAR, Dec 5: The government upper-primary school Nitivihar, Itanagar has celebrated its silver jubilee from 27 to 29 Nov last in a colourful manner.  The school was established on 1987 as Lower primary school which was later upgraded in year 2005 under SSA. Large numbers of students and parents attended the function. Earlier the occasion was inaugurated by DDSE Papum Pare T.T Tara. Army recruitment rally concludes

TEZU, Dec. 5: The recruitment rally for Soldier-General duty category conducted by the Indian Army in Jubilee Ground, Tezu ended today. Approximately 3400 candidates from all 17 districts of Arunachal Pradesh participated in the physical fitness tests of the three days recruitment rally which started on 3rd December last.

Candidates who have passed the physical tests will undergo medicals under special board of officers consisting of qualified doctors. Students who have qualified in higher secondary have large number of vacancies in Clerk, Nursing Assistant and Technical categories.

Earlier interacting with R. K. Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Lohit, Brigadier Ran Vijay Singh Deputy Director of Recruitment (NE States) explained that various efforts like computerization has been undertaken by the recruitment organization to conduct recruitment in a fair and transparent manner.

Death of senior citizen mourned

ITANAGAR, Dec 5:  Tarh Welfare Society had mourned untimely demise of Tarh Tapak who died on Wednesday. Late Tapak was 85 years old, when he died. He was senior citizen of the society and survived by wife, one son and two daughters and many grand children.

Alice Dai  crowned Miss Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Dec 05: Alice Dai was crowned Miss Arunachal 2012-13 tonight in a glittering event at Nyikum Nyia ground, Nirjuli.  She also won the Miss Photogenic sub-title.

Happy Yaying and Moom Darang were adjudged first and second runners up respectively.

The subtitles for Miss Beautiful Smile, Miss Talent, Miss Congeniality, Miss Cat Walk and Best Costume went to Romi Marbom, Happy Yaying, Sonia Tassar, Gumme Riba and Moom Darang respectively.

Title winner Alice was awarded a car. Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, who witnessed the entire show from beginning to end, handed over the car key to Alice. The first and second runners up were awarded a scooty each.

Govt. Hr. Sec School, Polo Colony team won the first prize in group dance competitions conducted as part of the beauty pageant. Dark Shadow group won the second prize while the third prize was won jointly by Dancing Devil and Astha dance group.

Famous models from Assam and Meghalaya also walked the ramp for various designers of the region.  This year’s beauty pageant with the theme “Beauty with Brain” aimed at empowering young women of the state, providing them a platform to show their talents in the field of fashion and showcase the rich cultural heritage of the state as well.

Altogether, 15 contestants vied for the top honours.

Accused duo in Axis Bank loot case nabbed

ITANAGAR, Dec 05: In one of the major achievements, the city police led by Itanagar Police Station OC inspector M Bui today arrested two employees of Security Intelligence Service India Limited (SIS), who fled away with Rs 17 lakh meant for Axis Bank ATMs.

The police  arrested the accused, namely, Tagru Tasang (23) and Tagru Tapak (26) of Tali area in Kurung Kumey district from their hideout inside the Hollongi forest in the wee hours on Dec 5, also recovered Rs 8,75,500 and local knives from the possession of the culprits, informed Capital SP Surender Kumar in a release today.

Acting on a tip off, the police team including SIs A Phassang and D Bagra picked up a tempo driver Tagru Tajak yesterday. During sustained interrogation, he revealed about dropping both the accused in Chimpu-Hollongi road from where they proceeded towards Hollongi on foot. Both the accused took shelter in a temporary structure which was lying vacant and was used by farmers during jhum cultivation. The Bui-led police team including SIs D Bagra, A Phassang, L/SI O Pertin, ASI A K Jha and Inspector Y Riram along with commandos raided the hide out inside the Hollongi jungle area, apprehended the duo and recovered Rs 1,75,500  along with two local knives from their possession.  While conducting raids at various hideouts deep inside the Hollongi jungle area the police also dug out Rs 7 lakh more which was wrapped in plastic bags.

A case vide Itanagar PS Case No.274/12 u/s 392/34 IPC had already been registered at PS Itanagar in this regard and  the police teams have been directed to carryout out intensive raids in deep Hollongi forest area to recover the remaining amount.  The accused would be produced before the magistrate, the SP said.

Meanwhile, the SP has congratulated the team, saying such act would restore public confidence in the uniformed personnel entrusted with the responsibility of protecting their life and property. The team will be rewarded suitably, he  added. It is worth mentioning here that Tasang, the cash custodian and Tapak the driver of SIS, an outsourced agency entrusted with the job of depositing cash at ATMs of Axis Bank on December 1 had fled with the amount on the day while they were on their way to deposit the cash at the ATMs located at Nirjuli and Naharlagun.

It was the second incident of bank loot within a month after armed gunmen robbed an amount of Rs 4.5 lakh from the Ganga branch of Rural Bank on November 8.

Police, however, arrested the prime accused Lokam Tagio from Chimpu near here on November 25 and seized a pistol and three rounds of ammunition from his possession.

 During October last year, miscreants looted an amount of Rs 22 lakh from the Axis Bank ATM at Naharlagun when the security agency was depositing the cash.

 Police arrested all the accused within six months and recovered the amount partially. (with inputs from PTI)

 

 

CM releases book on Archaeological Heritage

ITANAGAR, Dec 05: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today released the book titled ‘Archaeological Heritage of Arunachal Pradesh’ (Discoveries from 1991 to 2011) here at his office in a simple ceremony. The book published by Directorate of Research, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, has been authored by Dr Tage Tada, Jagat C Dutta and Nabajit Deori.

Congratulating the Research department, especially its Director Dr Tage Tada, who is also a co-author of the book, Tuki expressed happiness that the department is active and has brought out a research based book that would highlight the rich archaeological heritage of Arunachal Pradesh to the world. He specially thanked the authors for painstakingly going through their research works and producing an excellent book. He also hoped that the book would come in handy for students, researchers, scholars and the commonman who would want to have an insight into the state’s history and archaeological sites.

The Chief Minister encouraged Dr Tada and his team to carry on the good work and bring out more such useful and fact-based publications so that the world outside know the frontier state better. Discoveries made during the period between 1991 and 2011 in course of survey and explorations are incorporated in the book. The book gives an insight into the numerous monumental findings including prehistoric tools collected from different parts of the state in five chapters supported by maps, sketches and photographs.

The book will be useful not only to archaeologists but also social scientists and to the administrators and policy makers for developing cultural tourism, covering the old and new monuments and heritage sites of the state.

 

 

Tributes paid to Nyishi legendary singers

ITANAGAR, Dec 05: The members of Nyishi Arts And Cultural Welfare Society (NA&CWA) and Nyish Idol Organizing Committee 2012 along with participants of Nyish Idol competition have paid tribute to the memorials of legendary singers of Nyishi community namely Late Tadar Tang and Late Nicham Sonam, who had left behind unforgettable memories by contributing lots for the growth and development of music and singing in the society despite many difficulties during those days.

The team led by Techi Lombu, Chairman of Nyishi Idol Organizing Committee and Bamang Taniang Kiogi, ANSU Art & Cultural secretary as well as Organizing secretary of Nyishi Idol Organizing Committee, 2012, along with senior artists Bengia Hemanta, Nabam Tarang, Techi Jiri, Bengia Tabb and Nyishi Idol participants has also visited Likha Tassar, Nyishi Idol participant from Lower Subansiri district, who met with accident on the way from Yazali to Itanagar. He is presently under treatment at General Hospital Naharlagun. Team prayed to Almighty  god for his speedy recovery so that he may take part in Nyishi Idol competition which is commencing from 08th December  at Siddartha Hall Itanagar.

 

 

ABK expresses anguish over mysterious death of student, demands effective investigation

ITANAGAR, Dec 05:  The Adi Baane Kebang (ABK), the Apex body of the Adis today expressed deep anguish over  mysterious death of a student, namely, Nani Tama at Pasighat recently.  The body of Late Tama was found buried under sand on the bank of Siang river on Dec 1.

In a memorandum to East Siang Superintendent of Police the ABK appealed him to speed up the investigation process and book the culprits as per the law at the earliest.

ABK would like to ensure that Pasighat, being one of the Adi inhabited towns of Arunachal Pradesh,  remains crime free area and stands as an example for congenial atmosphere for all citizens, the Apex body of the Adis said in a release today. ABK requested the SP to make all our efforts to control the crime in Pasighat as the ‘repeated crimes reported in the daily papers show that there is lacuna in the controlling authority of law and order in the district.”

Meanwhile the ABK condemned the heinous crime and  conveyed  its condolence to the bereaved family.

 

 

Kargu Gamgi Foundation Day celebrated

Clarion call to preserve indigenous faith

ITANAGAR, Dec 05: The Galos of Capital Complex have celebrated its 8th Kargu Gamgi Foundation Day on Dec 5  at Mopin-Solung ground in a befitting manner.

In his inaugural address, senior citizen Bai Gadi expressed his satisfaction on the adoption of new organized prayer system. Gadi said that Donyi Polo is the supreme authority of entire universe and without it nothing can survive. He further said the descendants of Abotani must follow the Donyi-Polism as it helps us to preserve indigenous faith and culture. He was excited to be a part of the chanting that was conducted by Tony Koyu, Boya Potom, Chigam Karlo and Nyamik Potom. In his key note address, Tony Koyu, being the founder of Kargu Gamgi organized prayer system said “Pristine glories of the past have been giving way to confusion of modernism and the practice of Galo people in regards to promotion and preservation of cultural heritage and indigenous faith have also been fast changing. We may change our external appearance, but our minds, hearts and our souls are deeply rooted in our traditional beliefs in the supreme power of Donyipolo, Mopin festival, other rituals and Galo language.”

He said due to onslaught of modernity, western culture and invasion of alien religions, the very survival of our “Donyi Polo religion”, ‘Galo Language and Galo culture” are very much in danger and threatened. In the name of modernism, we simply cannot uproot our own cultural heritage and indigenous faith. It will be a great blunder on our part to do it, he added.

Stating that Donyi Polo religion is the mother of all modern religions of the world, Koyu said “we must take pride to propagate and practice our own religion.”

In Galo community, the ‘Kargu Gamgi Movement’ is a total revolution that will not only rejuvenate the past glory of Galo tribe but also ensure promotion, protection and preservation of Galo language, Galo culture and Donyi-Polo faith besides upholding our own traditional values for our posterity.  The organized prayer system under Donyipolism has already become an interesting way of life of entire Galo dominated areas, and the seeds of Kargu Gamgi have already been sown in the grass root levels. He further advised the followers of Donyi-Poloism to work hard in every field to achieve sustainable development. Koyu also mesmerized the audience by his sonorous way of chanting.

The tribal people of Arunachal Pradesh should not forget their own cultural ethics and indigenous faith, said Kargu Gamgi president Yido Boje. He said that practicing of organized prayer system has not only helped preserving own language and Donyi Polo faith but it has also improved the qualities of lives of the followers.

Lukbom Gadi, the Kargu Gamgi Secretary presented the annual report. He informed that nearly 100 numbers of Kargu Gamgi have been constructed at the grass root level. Bikram Bahadur Jamatiya, the president of ‘All India Janajati Forum’ also graced the occasion.

One of the most interesting agenda was the reading of ‘Donyi Polo Orman’ a philosophical ideas of Koyu by Cigam Karlo; Mobin Bagra, Bompu Romin and Bekar Bagra. The book “Donyipolo Orman” is written in Tanilipi by Tony Koyu.

The organization felicitated some renowned priests like Tama Romin and  Marpe Bojir for promoting and preserving traditional healing rituals etc and Tabin Karlo being as excellent orator in Galo tradition and language. The Committee also felicitated Dr. Tai Nyori, Potik Potom, Tony Koyu, Er Takar Mara, Mido Lollen, Lava Potom, Boya Potom, and Otu Potom. Many cultural troupes of Capital Complex participated and displayed colourful programmes that added attraction at the function.

 

 

Colourful cultural events mark the ‘Podi-Barbi’ festival

ITANAGAR, Dec 05: Ramo, Pai-Libo and Bokar communities residing in and around the Capital Complex, Itanagar have celebrated ‘Podi-Barbi’ in a grand and befitting manner at AAPBn Colony, Chimpu here today. Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) president Kangir Jamoh attended the festival as chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Jamoh wished the people of three communities a grand ‘Podi-Barbi’ celebration. He lauded them for properly preserving its age-old agricultural festival and called upon them to continue preserving their ancestral traditions, customs and culture for a better and brighter tomorrow.

He assured to extend every possible help from ABK for the welfare of three communities of Adi and suggested them to celebrate the festival in Mopin-Solung ground from next year.  

All Libo Ramo Bokar Welfare Society (ALRBWS) president Tasap Kochung while informing that due to unavailability of festival ground of its own in capital the people of three communities face lots of hardships in conducting such big events and sought ABK’s support to acquire a plot of land for that purpose.  

Tapir Tapen, a senior member of society narrated the mythology of Podi-Barbi. He gave detailed overview on the festival and its importance in one’s life since time immemorial.

All Libo Ramo Bokar Students’ Union (ALBRSU) president Akar Koje spoke on the occasion. He submitted a five-point memorandum to the chief guest and urged him to take up the matter with the higher authority for immediate action.  

Earlier, celebration organizing committee president Bojer Yordung highlighted on the significance of ‘Podi-Barbi’ festival. Meanwhile, an audio album titled ‘Songmendi Alo’ on Podi-Barbi was also released by the chief guest besides felicitating young Kerateka Anu Komi, who brought laurels to the state by winning a gold medal in national level event in Mumbai recently, by ALBRSU on the occasion. Among others present on the occasion were ALRBWS chairman Tayor Jempen.

Various colourful cultural presentations by the women cultural troupe of All Libo, Bokar and Ramo Welfare Society, Itanagar besides other colourful events marked the day-long celebration.  

 

 

Awareness cum workshop on management of drinking water supply and sanitation

KHONSA, Dec 05: A block level awareness- cum- workshop on “Management of Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation - Role of PRIs” organized by Public Health Engineering and Water Supply Division, Khonsa on 4th December 2012 at Community Hall, Deomali CD block as a part of NRDWP(Support) activities completed successfully.

Charing the programme, Bani Lego, EAC, Deomali explained the participants to give important and attention to such kind of training for the welfare of community. Further he told that water is an elixir to our life and everybody should care about the quality of water supplied to them as most villagers consuming it may be prone to various water borne diseases  

Pojom Padu AE, PHESD, Deomali through power point presentation detailed about executive members  and  functions of District Water Sanitation Mission (DWSM), Block Resource Center (BRC) and Village Water Sanitation Committee (VWSC). Padu disclosed that the assets created under drinking water supply through NRDWP would be subsequently transferred and handed over to the respective PRIs for operation and maintenance after imparting proper training to them. Showing fluoride, arsenic, chloride affected photograph, he explained the importance of water to be tested before consumption and informed various parameters for testing water quality using Field Test Kit (FTK). Padu also informed that EE-cum- Member Secretary currently, taking up a national level training at Gujarat, because of which he could not attain today’s programe.         

Jonya Moithak, ZPM, Soha encouraged the participants to take the maximum benefits from the opportunity of the training programme.

Thanking the department, Kamwang Lowang, ZPM, Namsang, informed PRIs that it will be our responsible to operate  and  manage water  and sanitation schemes at grass root level which will to come force from 13th finance commission.  We ought to participate in such programme to train ourselves for effective implementation of nation’s flagships programe like NBA, NRDWPs.  ZPM also highlighted about water, sanitation and health linkages. He stressed upon abolition of age old practice of traditional Pigsty toilet being commonly used in rural area.

Dr S Roy, SMO, General Hospital, Deomali highlighted relationship between water, health  and sanitation. He explained various water  and  sanitation borne diseases like malaria, typoid, TB, dysentery, diarrhea, skin diseases, jaundice etc. He advised the house to keep personal hygiene and village sanitation.

Doi Tarak, Consultant, PHE & WS Division, Khonsa through Power Point presentation detailed about role of PRI/ VWSC in the management of drinking water supply and sanitation. He elaborately explained on how to plan, implement, operate, maintain and manage water supplies to ensure their sustainability. With the picture, audio and video clip presentation, he stressed on safe handling of drinking water, disposal of waste, personal hygiene and village sanitation. ‘

Lova Yekar, JE, PHESD Deomali gave salient features of Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan(NBA)  and gave demonstration on different types of low cost sanitary toilets in power point presentation. He elaborately explained on how to construct, cost involvement, longevity and sustainability of the toilets. He also advised the gathering to keep regular habits of using sanitary toilets to prevent various diseases coming out of open defecation.

YS Tesia, CDPO, Deomali gave concept  and component of sanitation.

Lilymai Deka, LT, PHESD Deomali and Block Coordinators gave demonstrative training on how to use, measure the chemical reagents and test water quality for drinking using e Field Test Kit (FTK). Town beautification – the impact of SRF

The immediate impact of preparation for celebration of Siang River Festival (SRF) 2012 is the regular social service and face-lift work for a period of last three weeks by the dwellers and inhabitants of Yingkiong township, the headquarters of Upper Siang district.

The district administration and all the state government employees and the public as a whole headed, initiated and supervised by deputy commissioner Liyon Borang who is also the chairman of the SRF feel that besides showcasing our indigenous rich cultural heritage, tradition and tourism potentiality, the essence of life is the word ‘Beauty’ and ‘Love’ which are two sides of a same coin which is nothing but making oneself and others neat and clean, hygienic and beauty which ultimately leads to mental peace, content and makes one self and others feel happy and attractive.

Initiating the social service and facelift work as a main part of the ongoing SRF celebration, the respective sectors, colonies have cleaned, swept drains, cleared bushes, shrubs, planted ornamental plants, etc adding beauty of the town. The owners of the commercial shops also have been asked to facelift their building walls and roofs. Consequently, after three weeks of frequent social service, the overall view of the Yingkiong town has become quite changed with a different out look and as a result it has become more beautiful than its earlier face. Observing the situation it has to be concluded ‘if there is a will, there is a way’. If more than one billion population of India works together for a week, a month or at least a week in every month why can't India compete with China, USA, Japan and others in all aspects of development. If the 13 lakh population of Arunachal Pradesh work in the form of social service at least once in a week, the State can never remain backward rather can go forward.

People should understand that the motto of celebrating festivals like Pangsau Pass, Siang River, Kepangla and whatsoever is not only to present traditional folk dance, music, songs and take, delicious food and drink alone but the motto of festivals should be to inculcate, inherit work culture, the art of beautification of our habitat, environment to make it  fit for healthy living with sound mind and sound health, promoting brotherhood, friendship, unity, cooperation, communal harmony and national integrity.

This should be the fundamental objective and main agenda of all form of festivals. Hence, come and enjoy the festival with rejoicing mood irrespective of all class, sections of people sharing joys and happiness among all. (The writer is DIPRO, Upper Siang)

 

 

District level monitoring committee  meeting held at Anini

ANINI, Dec 5: The 9th District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting was held in the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner here on  Dec 4. The meeting was mainly convened to review physical and financial achievements of various centrally sponsored schemes under ACA, SPA, NEC, NLCPR, RIDF, BADP, PM’s Package etc in being implemented in Dibang Valley district. All the committee members, Govt officers and officials, panchayat leaders participated in the meeting.

District Planning Officer, Willia Chautang formally welcoming the DC cum chairman, DLMC members, Panchayat Leaders and other officers present in the meeting has initiated the discussion and called for presentation of report   before the committee.

Chairing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman of the DLMC, Tamune Miso gave emphasis on timely completion of every scheme with   strict adherence to technical specification.  DC urged all the Panchayat leaders, GBs and public of the district to extend cooperation to the executing /implementing agencies in order to ensure quality of work and time-bound completion of every scheme for the faster development of the district.

A scheme-wise report on physical and financial achievements of various departments in the current year was placed in the house. A detail discussion was held to assess the reasons behind delay in completion of some projects/schemes and measures to overcome such undue delay were also discussed.

During the course of discussion on implementation of NHPC’s “Dibang Multi-Purpose Project”, the house unanimously suggested the NHPC representative to take up the issue with NHPC authority to grant more flexibility in R&R and CSR policies. The house also emphasized on establishment of NHPC office in the district   to take up public grievances directly  for redressal.

Continuing the meeting for the second shift as “Coordination meeting with all HoDs, HOOs and other Officers”, Deputy Commissioner, T. Miso  made a humble appeal to all officers of the district to remain in station.  DC also gathered feedback from every department on working of the department and advocated for better cooperation and coordination within all the Govt. departments for faster development of the District in every front. Advent Christmas observed at Ruksin

RUKSIN, Dec 5: The Ruksin Circle Christian Forum (RCCF) celebrated Advent Christmas with enthusiastic and religious fervour at Rayang Community hall last night.

On the occasion congregational prayer and song were performed apart from cultural programmes by the believers from different churches and denominations.

Welcoming the participants, president of RCCF Tajom Padung urged the people to be the perfect disciple of Jesus Christ and to help each other in the hours of need and prayed for the welfare of the people.

Deniel Jummo Noshi,a Missionary cum Pastor of Ruksin church presented testimony to the believer on how God bless one and transformed his life.

Dr Kabit Ratan, a local medical practitioner delivered the message of love, peace and unity and urged the congregation to shoulder the responsibilities that has been assigned to them for the glory of Lord.

Describing on Bible chapters, he ensured that one can be endowed with three qualities -immortality, love and Ethernet life for believing God in true sense. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life”. he said in course of discussion.

Expressing concern over the budding youths, who are on wrong footing to an uncertain future, Ratan laid stress on imparting spiritual knowledge to those misled youths. He also urged the parents to guide their children on a religious way. He exclaimed that the domesticated beasts have knowledge to know their master/lord, but the human beings endowed with will power survive without knowing god and destroying their valuable lives.

 

 

Preparation on for celebration of third National Voters Day

BOMDILA, Dec 5: The National Voters Day was celebrated on 25th January 2011 for the first time in the country. It aims at creating awareness among the mass on the Adult Franchise – one’s right to participate and vote after attainment of 18 years of age. The main emphasis is laid on educating the youths of 18 to 19 years of age, of the rights, duties and responsibilities of a conscious and responsible citizen.

In a meeting held this morning at Bomdila, DC cum DEO Rinchin Tashi dealt at length on the need and importance of celebrating the day and creating awareness especially targeting the younger generations who are at the threshold of youth.

ADC cum ERO headquarter B Dehingia made aware of the ECI guidelines and reviewed the last year’s programme. He also suggested for conduct of special classes in all the schools for creating awareness on this line which would act as a preparatory base for the upcoming generations. This would, in the long run facilitate better and active youth participation in building a stronger and prosperous country, he added.

The district headquarters Bomdila has set the stone rolling for the grand celebration of the National Voters Day on 25th of January 2013 with programmes of mass procession, mass meeting, issue of EPIC to the newly registered voters, drawing and essay writing competitions for the students on the election themes. Such programmes would also be conducted all over the district under the guidance and participation of the respective EROs & AEROs. DIPRO

 

 

Pre-Christmas celebrated

ITANAGAR, Dec 5: Apostolos Bible College has celebrated Pre-Christmas at G-sectorl, Itanagar today.

While attending the programme, Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Chairman Jalley Sonam in his message urged the followers to serve the humanity particularly to poor and needy people irrespective of color, creed and religion.

He said “we should serve and give proper guidance to those youths and BPL peoples who are indulging in extortion, dacoity, and burglary and insurgency activities.”

Sonam also briefing about the activities of Christian missionaries said thousands of local youths are working as missionaries in the state.

He encouraged the youth to come forward and involve in developmental activities of the state.

“Our youth should not hesitate to work as simple workers in BRO, NEEPCO,NHPC etc. Due to ill concept among our local youths the numbers of unemployment is increasing day by day despite availability of jobs in these agencies.”

Speaker Rev. Toko Loma, Pastor, CRC, Chimpu also delivered religious message on the occasion.

India to achieve health MDGs

India’s National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) was launched in 2005 and in the last seven years of the implementation of the mission the infant mortality rate declined from 58 in 2005 to 44 in 2011 while the maternal mortality ratio declined from 254 in 2004-06 to 212 in 2007-09. The coverage of measles immunisation increased from 69.1 per cent in 2007-08 to 74 per cent in 2009. The annual rate of decline of IMR accelerated by about 37 per cent between 2005-11 (after inception of NRHM in 2005) as compared to 2000-2005. The annual rate of decline of MMR between 2005 and 2008 is 22 per cent higher than the annual rate of decline between 2000 and 2005. This is expected to show even better performance after latest survey results are known. While there has been a significant improvement in rate of reduction of IMR, MMR and measles immunisation, there is still a need to improve further.

However, the current trends with regard to under-five mortality and maternal mortality ratio indicate that India should be able to achieve the MDG targets.

In respect of Under-Five Mortality Rate (U5MR) among children, the MDG-4 target is to reduce it by two-thirds between 1990 and 2015. In case of India, it translates into a goal of reducing U5MR from 115 per 1000 live births in 1990 to 38 in 2015. As per estimates of available from the Office of the Registrar General of India, the U5MR for the year 2008, 2009 and 2010 has been 69, 64 and 59 per 1000 live births respectively registering an annual decline of 7.2 per cent during 2008-09 and 7.8 per cent during 2009-10. If this trend continues (with improved health systems and effective implementation of evidence based interventions, the rate of decline should actually continue to improve further), India will reach the U5MR of 39 per 1000 live births by 2015, almost achieving the MDG 4 target.

In respect of the MDG-5 Target, the Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) is to be reduced by three-quarters between 1990 and 2015. The MMR in 1990 is estimated to be 600 per 100,000 live births as per the latest UN inter agency estimates. This means that MMR in India is to be reduced to 150 per 100,000 live births by 2015. As per the estimates available from the Office of Registrar General of India, the MMR declined from 254 per 100,000 live births in 2004-06 to 212 per 100,000 live births in 2007-09 observing an average annual decline of 5.5 per cent. Even if the annual rate of decline of 5.5 per cent observed between 2004-06 and 2007-09 continues (although it is expected to improve in view of increased institutional deliveries post 2008), India’s MMR will decline from 212 in 2007-09 to 143 by 2015, well below the MDG Target. Infact, a reduction of 388 points (about 86 per cent) has already been achieved by 2008 against the required reduction of 450 points by 2015.
